Laura Shamas is a 2023 Winner of the Los Angeles New Play Project Award for her play FOUR WOMEN IN RED ($20,000 to the playwright/$20,000 to the producing theater), which will premiere at the Victory Theatre Center in 2024-25.
Writer Laura Annawyn Shamas: Her background includes Chickasaw, English, French, Irish, Lebanese, and Scottish heritage.
She is a Chickasaw Nation citizen. Her plays have been produced in the U.S., Europe, the U.K., Canada and Australia. In the U.S., her shows have been performed in San Francisco; Chicago; New York; Los Angeles; Philadelphia; Washington, D.C.; and other major cities. She also writes non-fiction and fiction. Her Ph.D. is in Mythological Studies. In 2023, she’s working on a new novel.
